Ingredients

  • Chicken: 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Teriyaki Sauce:
    • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
    • 1/4 cup honey
    • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
    • 2 tbsp brown sugar
    • 1 tbsp sesame oil
    • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
  • Garnish:
    • 1/2 tsp sesame seeds
    • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.

Step 2: Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch and water, then stir into the sauce until it thickens. Remove from heat.

Step 3: Bake the Chicken

  1. Place chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish.
  2. Pour the teriyaki sauce over the chicken, ensuring it’s well coated.
  3. Cover with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes.

Step 4: Caramelize & Serve

  1. Remove the foil, spoon sauce over the chicken, and bake uncovered for another 5-10 minutes.
  2. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
  3. Serve hot with rice or steamed vegetables.

Notes

  • For a thicker glaze, broil the chicken for 2-3 minutes at the end.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
