This easy oven-baked teriyaki chicken is juicy, flavorful, and coated in a rich homemade teriyaki sauce. Perfect for a quick and delicious dinner!
Ingredients
- Chicken: 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Teriyaki Sauce:
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
- Garnish:
- 1/2 tsp sesame seeds
- 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
Step 2: Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic.
- Bring to a gentle simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch and water, then stir into the sauce until it thickens. Remove from heat.
Step 3: Bake the Chicken
- Place chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish.
- Pour the teriyaki sauce over the chicken, ensuring it’s well coated.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes.
Step 4: Caramelize & Serve
- Remove the foil, spoon sauce over the chicken, and bake uncovered for another 5-10 minutes.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
- Serve hot with rice or steamed vegetables.
Notes
- For a thicker glaze, broil the chicken for 2-3 minutes at the end.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
